Bio &Artist Statement

 

Troy’s interpersonal communication skills have taken him for the classrooms of his alma mater The Art Academy of Cincinnati where he taught Foundation and illustration courses for several years to The School of the Art Institute of Chicago where used his skills to run SAIC’s Summer Institute Residency Program for the college. Troy now focuses those interpersonal skills gained teaching and administrating programs to communicate complex emotional content in his illustrations and creative client-based projects. Now on his fourth Children's Book project he deals with subject matter like critical thinking and emotional intelligence. He has just completed a successful summer exhibiting work on the topic of ‘Memories’ at the Saul Alexander Gallery in Charleston, SC and was just named Artist in Residence at Maryville College in Tenn.

 

Troy has a BFA in Communication Arts with an emphasis in Design and illustration. He also has a Masters in Art Education from DAAP at the University of Cincinnati. This is in addition to his successful career in packaging design while working as an Art Director in his hometown of Cincinnati. He currently resides with his wife and two sons in the Raleigh, North Carolina area where he is professor of art at North Carolina Central University and North Wake College & Career Academy.
